(MPC8560 processor card + Type-N/S carrier)
(Above is the pictures of MPC8560 reference board)
Overview
MPC8560 development platform consists of MPC8560 processor card (MPC8560PC) and three kinds of carriers for different applications. MPC8560PC services as a general-purpose PQ37PC processor card and supports Freescale MPC8540/8541E/8555E/8560 processor. The reusable processor card integrates CPU (8560) and some periphery circuit and can be flexibly combined with Type-N, Type-S or Type-A carrier board for different applications, such as network communication, storage and ATCA or MicroTCA Chassis application. It reduces the design cycle and saves the investment for the designer. MPC8560 processor can be applied for Communication and networking products.
Freescale's leading PowerQUICC III architecture integrates two processing blocks. One block is a high-performance embedded e500 core. With 256 KB of Level 2 cache, the e500 core is built on Power Architecture technology and provides unprecedented levels of hardware and software debugging support. The second block is the Communications Processor Module (CPM). The CPM of the MPC8560 can support three fast serial communications controllers (FCCs), two multichannel controllers (MCCs), four serial communications controllers (SCCs), one serial peripheral interface (SPI) and one I2C interface.
The PQ37PC is
designed to contain the mandatory memories (DDR and flash) and system logics
(latch and buffer) only. However, it supports wide range of
peripherals/interfaces, for example ATM, 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet, UART,
through the I/O connectors and a corresponding carrier board. The following
sections describe the advantages of using the PQ37PC.
